Youth Sports Teams Mark and Chip are both involved this spring in coaching their kids' sports teams. Mark is coaching Elliot's Dixie Youth Baseball team and also Caroline's spring basketball team. Chip is coaching Martha Preston's first sport effort in her 4-5 year old soccer team for the Island Recreation Center.

Heroes on Horseback Mark Mayer and Ann Eden have been busy at the stables this Spring assisting an organization called Heroes on Horseback. This program, intended to instill self-confidence and provide an enjoyable outdoor activity, helps physically and mentally challenged individuals experience the thrill and joy of horseback riding. Hats off to Mark and Ann for their dedicated service to this very worthy cause.

REO Speedwagon Volunteers Needed: If you would like to see REO Speedwagon live and help make this year's Party in the Park concert event another great success during MCI Heritage golf tournament week, please shoot Chip Collins an email. As a community service, we are coordinating a volunteer corp of about 100 people, and we are getting close to finalizing our list. The event will be on April 16th, and volunteers need to be present from 5:00 p.m. until about 10:30 p.m. Let us know if you would be itnerested in helping out...it will be a lot of fun! Gullah Market Razed: A long-standing land-mark on the north end of Hilton Head Island saw its last days earlier this month with the demolition of the Gullah Market. The land that was home to the building was purchased by the Town of Hilton Head, who ultimately had no use for the actual structure. Everything inside the market was either sold or given away, and the land is now clear, providing a nice view out to the marshes behind the property. Attention Junior Golfers: There is a terrific instructional golf program specifically tailored to introducing juniors to the game of golf being offered by Palmetto Hall Plantation. This unique program takes into consideration all levels of student players, from the first timer to the advanced high school golf team members. The program officially begins this coming Sunday and promises to be an outstanding on-going offering on Hilton Head Island.
